November Thanks

turkeygirl

This month is off to a much better started than the dramatic, sickly month of October.  It’s also the kick-off to the holiday season that I love so dearly!  I’m eager for Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations.  I deeply enjoy time with my family.  I also plan to actively embrace the spirit of thanks all month.

Yesterday I was disappointed to learn that, even though I teach at two colleges, I will be unable to maintain the full-time course-load I have been so fortunate to have the last 2+ years.  As I sat down to number crunch and plan a tight budget yesterday, I suddenly felt like a very spoiled brat.  So many friends and family members have lost jobs during this economic crunch.  Our belt straps will be a little tight, but Matt & I are very blessed to BOTH be working right now.  I will definitely keep that at the top of my list of things to be thankful for.

Brief list of things in my life I am thankful for:

job
healthy parents
husband
sister
new niece
Libby (my beloved Silky Terrier)
roomy apartment
new winter boots
education
dedicated students

What are you thankful for?

  1. So you got some info out of Tronti yesterday? ;)
I’m sorry you won’t be able to do a full load– but maybe you can use the extra time to work on your book?
Kudos on turning that frown upside down :)

    • Thanks Melissa. And, yes, the silver lining is definitely that I’ll have more book time. ;)

  2. [...] NaBloWriMo, pop culture This seems as good a day as any to borrow pages from fellow blogger Nikki Faith and Gratefulness.org and list things I’ve been thankful for this [...]

  3. Hi people, it is Thanksgiving Day! I’m happy with my extra day off, and I am planning to make something fun that will probably involve a bike ride and seeing something new in South Yarmouth I haven’t seen yet.
You write new post at Thanksgiving?

  4. Yay for extra days off! I’ve been using mine to visit family and get some research done. I need to post a new post! I’m a few days behind. ;)
